Our customer: Sure Start (c/o The London Borough of Hillingdon).

The project: A single-deck playbus

Customer’s brief:

Sure Start and Hillingdon Borough Council wanted to use their limited budget and funding to provide a modern and practical playbus for Sure Start projects in the Townfield area

Coachbuild Quality’s solution:

The limited budget dictated the use of a second-hand single-decker bus and with CQ’s help and advice, a Leyland National vehicle was located and purchased

CQ then proceeded to:

• strip the single-decker back to a shell
• block off front doors and fit a generator
• install heating & lighting systems / roof vents
• Fit vinyl walls / padded ceiling / oak cupboards
•  
• ……and, using bright and practical materials, created:
• seating and kitchen area at the front of the bus
• disabled access- toilet and baby changing area
• sand pit and cupboard
• painting, reading & quiet areas
• soft play area

……externally, CQ added:

• side awning
• specially built side doors
• paintwork & vinyl livery

The outcome:

An old bus transformed into a modern working vehicle.
