Our customer: East Herts Playbus
Association (c/o East Herts Council).
The project: A single-deck playbus
Customer’s brief:
East Herts Playbus Association had received Lottery funding for a brand
new single decker bus. They had to organised the build of the bus, and
the interior of the bus required a complete re-fit with a full playbus
specification.
Coachbuild Quality’s solution:
East Herts Playbus Association were having some problems with the bus
company. CQ spoke to a Transbus and suggested that they did not require
most of the internal fittings ie:-seats/ floor covering/ windows etc.
This meant that Transbus could take one bus off the production line earlier,
and it would also be cheaper.
CQ then proceeded to:
- Line the walls/floor and ceiling
- Fit a water cooled generator and air conditioning unit
- install heating & lighting systems / roof vents
- Fit vinyl to walls / padded ceiling / Cherry cupboards

- ……and, using bright and practical materials, created:
- kitchen area at the front of the bus with oven/hob/sink & kettle
- disabled access- toilet and baby changing area
- sand pit and cupboards
- painting, reading, & quiet areas
- TV & play area
……externally, CQ added:
- side awning
- specially built side doors
- paintwork & vinyl livery
- CCTV
The outcome:
A practical, all-purpose playbus which met and exceeded the client’s
expectations
