Our customer: Buffy Bus Association (c/o Uttlesford
Council).
The project: A Double-decker playbus
Customer’s brief:
The Buffy Bus Association needed a new bus as the old bus they were
using had come to the end of its working life. They purchased an existing
playbus which needed quite a bit of attention and asked CQ to take on
the refurbishment.
Coachbuild Quality’s solution:
The layout of the existing playbus would not fit into
the requirements of the Buffy Bus plans. With help from the customer
CQ re-designed the layout to suit their every needs.
CQ then proceeded to:
- Remove 90% of the existing equipment
- Fit a disabled ramp at the front of the bus
- install heating & roof vents
- Transfer the kitchen area from the rear of bus to the front
-
- ……and, using bright and practical materials, created:
- seating and kitchen area at the front of the bus
- disabled access- toilet and baby changing area
- sand/water area and cupboards
- painting, reading & computer areas
- soft play /ball pit area
……externally,
- Removed 2 windows and re-panelled
- External bodywork
- paintwork & vinyl livery
The outcome:
A playbus in which the layout would make it a safe, and easy place
to work comfortably.
