Our customer: Bar’n’bus
The project: A Double Decker Youth bus
Customer’s brief:
Bar’n’bus were given a donation from Grays Police Authority
of a double decker bus and some money to convert it into a youth bus.
Their specification and layout was as follows: - Lower deck with seating – storage – breakfast
bar with hob and sink. Upper deck with seating – quiet area with
door – two areas for TV and play stations.
Coachbuild Quality’s solution:
CQ started by removing the existing bus seats and handrails. Once the
bus was an empty shell CQ could plan how to use the space most effectively.
CQ then proceeded to:
- Remove all the existing cushions and get them re-upholstered.
- Replace the existing seating with bench seats.
- Cover walls in fire retardant carpet.
- Replace flooring with lino and carpet.
-
- ……and, using bright and practical materials, created:
-
- Serving counter with storage, hob and sink.
- TV cabinets with storage in lockable cupboards for play stations
and DVD’s
- Bulkhead with a door for a quiet area with seating.
The outcome:
A youth bus and social bus for the Grays area.

comments: (Rod Maycock Project Director)
“Even from the early stages and right the way through
to completion of this project we have always found Coachbuild Quality
approachable, helpful and entirely reliable. I can honestly say at
no time have we felt un-happy with their work and feel this has been
a tremendous success. We would not hesitate to recommend them at anytime.”
